Your first session

What happens before, during and after

  1. Step 1: Before: you write or call

Tell us the times that suit you and how to reach you. You do not need to say why you are coming.

  2. Step 2: Before: the 15-minute call

A call about fit. It is not therapy, an evaluation or an assessment. You can ask anything, including what we will not ask you.

  3. Step 3: Before: your estimate

If you are paying without insurance, you get a written Good Faith Estimate before the session.

  4. Step 4: During: sixty minutes

Your clinician explains how they work, what stays private and where the limits of privacy are, and the possible risks and benefits of therapy.

  5. Step 5: During: you set the pace

You say what you want to bring. You can say pass to anything.

  6. Step 6: After: you decide

At the end you and your clinician decide whether to continue, and how often. A receipt follows each month.

The room

A room with a lamp, not a clinic

Soft light, two chairs and a sofa. If you would rather start by video, you can, and you can switch.
